The big story today was BRITISH Olympic boxer Billy Joe Saunders being suspended for his youtube sex video. Tomorrow Times had a great day in terms of unique visitors and our highly placed position in google’s search results. For most of the day we were placed above the Times and Telegraph for the key phrases around the story.
We did this by concentrating our page title url on what we expected people to be searching on – and made sure we got this out as soon as the story broke. The 2 phrases driving traffic to us were 1) billy joe saunders youtube and 2) youtube billy joe saunders.

Tomorrow Times is built using WordPress, an open source publishing platform. Before we found WordPress we spent quite a lot of our hard money trying to create a bespoke version of Tomorrow Times using uk .Net developers. This proved a bad idea, and the project floundered.
Then we found WordPress and within 1 month we had a beta version and running. We use www.scriptlance.com for outsourced development and have found the most fantastic developers to work with. Scriptlance is great because it gives you ebay style reviews on developers so we can be confident the people you contract with will deliver.
Our 5 Reasons to use wordpress
1) It’s free
2) It has a fantastic development community that builds cool things that you can plugin for free
3) You can easily tap in to the WordPress development community - extending the product is really cost effective compared to traditional CMS systems (see www.scriptlance.com)
4) It has social networking features coming soon (see www.buddypress.com)
5) It natively understands SEO
